• Straw man personas crafted prior to user interviews (drafted by myself and a PM)
• 14 user interviews conducted by myself and a colleague to better understand users' online habits
• Personas built from qualitative data
• Personas are currently being validated quantitively by a market research team
• These 4 empathy maps were built from our personas and are used to gain a deeper insight into our users by immersing ourselves in their environment
Overview
• ABSORBERS are knowledgeable multi-taskers that visit online communities so frequently there isn’t content velocity high enough to equal their consumption.
• CHRONICLERS are power-users that wants to detail all aspects of their favorite fandom(s) and they feel it is their duty to do so.
• MAINSTREAMERS lightly consume content and mostly focuses on what’s most popular.
• MAVENS are not just voracious consumers of pop culture, they pride themselves on their knowledge, their insight, and even their humor. Unlike Stars, however, they prefer to use an online persona and contribute to a larger community. Mavens tend to be the most altruistic persona.
